It's Time To Chime In: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater [WITH VIDEO]
I am elated to present the exquisite Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Though you may not have to go far to find a ladies' timepiece adorned with precious jewels, it is fairly uncommon to see a ladies' wristwatch containing such elaborate complications. Barring JLC's Hybris Artistica collection, I consider this watch to be the brand's finest creation.
The case is crafted from 18 karat white gold and contains over 548 entirely hand-set diamonds; almost half of those diamonds are affixed to the dial. The overall design is influenced by the opulent timepieces from the early days of mechanical watchmaking. There also is a diamond-encrusted portrayal of ivy on the dial which represents "a decorative motif already featured in the creative palette of the Grande Maison, as a platform for its master craftsmen to express their artistry," says JLC.
Over 10 years of development has yielded the newly-conceived Calibre 942A. This exceptionally accurate automatic movement beats at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and, aside from the repeater, features a power reserve of 43 hours. To increase the thinness of the movement, JLC utilizes a pushpiece to trigger the repeater function rather than a traditional slide.
